Karen Zeretzke

Karen had a master's degree in linguistics and was a language teacher for several years in the East Baton Rouge Parish School system. She fulfilled her dream of having a large family and raised eight children. At the center of her heart were her children and family. She is survived by her husband, seven children, and two grandchildren. She was devoted to her children and education. Karen was also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and founder of Lactation Associates, Inc. Her life's work was to educate and support young mothers to breastfeed and in so doing helped numerous new mothers and babies begin their lives together. In addition to many articles that she wrote for LLL publications, she authored "Yeast Infections and the Breastfeeding Family" and "Allergies and the Breastfeeding Family," published in Leaven, La Leche League International's journal for Leaders. She was also instrumental in creating the LLL Alliance (formerly the LLL Eastern Division) Health Professional Seminar Program.
